URBANISM LANDSCAPE WEEK | Tempory uses toolkit and practices
TRANSITIONAL, TEMPORARY AND TACTICAL APPROACHES IN THE CITY
TRANSITIONAL, TEMPORARY AND TACTICAL APPROACHES IN THE CITY
Prague 24th October 2025
Thanks to IPR and Public Spacelab for the invitation to the international conference and for sharing questions, urgent issues, and tools for addressing the transformations of our cities.
Temporary and transitory uses, tactical urban planning projects that accompany and anticipate long-term transformations, temporary uses that test new imaginaries, and populations and stakeholders who can care for and re-signify abandoned places… places that always remain oases where collective dreams can be experimented.
No to speculative temporary uses, but rather an ethic of temporary uses that support and give space to populations (a gray area) of students, new startups, artists, NGO’s, associations, and the third sector capable of restoring new life cycles and contributing to the social capital of our cities.
It was also wonderful to meet new entities such as:
KristinaUllmannova and Vojtech Luxemburk, IPR Prague
EmilyBerwyn, dir. Meanwhile Space , Hastings Commons
Miklos Tomor, Valyo Klobu, Budapest
Sandra Stasselova , MIB-Metropolitan Institute Bratislavy
And a special thanks to Jan Trejbal , Zuzana Stejskalova and Tereza Novakova (and Jita Toms) of #publicspacelab for the great energy with wich they promote temporary uses in the Czech Republic.
I recommend visiting the magnificent IPR Prague, the Institute of Planning and Development, the Prague’s main policy-making unit for architecture, planning development, design and administration.
(Especially if you like brutalist architecture;-)

M-US-T internship at Temporiuso
M-US-T Master Temporary Uses of Politecnico INTERNSHIPWe’re delighted with Wu Zengzhen’s M-US-T internship at Temporiuso. We’ll soon involve her in new projects betweenItaly and China. What do the students of M-US-T Master in Temporary Uses think of their experience? Which modules, lectures, and projects inspired them the most? And where are they completing their internships?Wu Zengzhen is an architect and cultural advocate specialising in #architecture, #digitalillustration, and #heritageinnovation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Yangtze University in China and a Master’s in Environment and Heritage Design from Kyushu University in Japan.“(…) Throughout this Master, I have gained valuable insights into the temporary uses of urban space, including its definition, key tools, and applications. (…) I would like to soon apply it to the Chinese context too, adapting the tools to the local fragilities of abandonment, underuse, but also for large events and their legacy”.She is currently an intern at Temporiuso.net. She organized and archived the association’s published books and case studies of temporary urban use, gaining in-depth insight into European practices. She translated key materials into Chinese and adapted the content for Chinese audiences. Furthermore, she published selected content on Xiaohongshu (RED), promoting the concept of temporary urban use and projects from Italy to a Chinese audience and facilitating cross-cultural exchange.Applications for the second edition are now open! You can apply by January 18, 2026 here: https://www.polimi.it/…/how-to-apply-to-specialising…For more information:formazione-poliedra@polimi.itDirectors: Antonella Bruzzese | Isabella IntiDipartimento di Architettura e Studi Urbani – Politecnico di Milano
